Playing cards have been a popular pastime for centuries, with their origins shrouded in mystery. However, historians believe that playing cards originated from China during the Tang dynasty around the 9th century.
The earliest records of playing cards are from the Tang dynasty, where they were known as "leaf game" or "flower game" cards. These cards were made from paper or woodblock prints and featured various images such as animals, flowers, and landscapes.
From China, playing cards spread to India, Persia, and eventually into Europe through trade routes. It was in Europe that playing cards began to take on the familiar four-suit structure that we know today. In Italy, card makers created decks that featured the suits of swords, cups, Coins and Wands
